Sixteen referees were observed and many of them upgraded from Grade 4 to 3R over a weekend of competitive volleyball at The Ashcombe Volleyball Centre, Dorking. Led by Ludo Kowalski a panel of observers were able to support the referee development in the South East, paid for by VE and the South East county associations.
The annual competition that brings together the top 10 men’s and women’s from the county leagues in Surrey, Sussex, Kent, Berkshire and Hampshire saw the teams from Oxford winning both days.
The women’s semi finalist were Oxford, Spelthorne, Ashcombe and Basingstoke, while the men’s teams came from Oxford, Brighton, Mole Valley and Portsmouth.
Competition organiser Freda Bussey would like to thank Ludo Kowalski and the other observers as well as Ian Ruddock and Dani Korcheva who helped the days run smoothly.
